Giving
An investment is not always the best tool for projects that do not result in concrete financial returns. For instance the start-up costs associated with market-creation among poor people, or the technical development of prototype 'bush-proof' products are best financed with grants. This way, such one-time costs do not have to be factored in to the final price of the products, making them more affordable for the poor.
In addition, our work often brings us face-to-face with tremendous human needs where philantrophy, not business, is the first answer.
